Project Homeless and Family Connect brings dozens of local service providers together to connect individuals and families who may be facing or who are experiencing homelessness with medical care, social services, housing aid, and much more.

We want to ensure people are getting the help they need while maintaining safety for all.  Therefore, we will be holding small pop-up events outside at our campus next to the St. Vincent's Dining Room.

We are hiring for full and part-time Thrift Store Associates for the St. Vincent's Thrift Store in Reno and the Super Thrift Store in Sparks. Job duties include: customer relations, processing donations, pricing, and working at our donor door. 

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada’s Immigration Assistance Program is continuing its naturalization related services in connection with the Adult Basic Education program through Truckee Meadows Community College. The services are free of charge thanks to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Citizenship and Assimilation Grant Program.

 

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 8:00am to 5:00pm, all HPN Medicaid adult members can get a mammogram, basic labs, a wellness exam, sick visit, and more.  No appointment needed! HPN will also have a resource table on site to assist with any questions.

In just one day, we hope to raise enough money to provide 6,000 hot meals to our community’s homeless and working poor through our St. Vincent’s Dining Room. We are so thankful and blessed to have the support of both Andy and Amy Stewart and Ross and Suzi Barker. Their commitment to our organization and our work to ease the pain of poverty has been tremendous. Our entire staff is committed to helping people when they need us most and the generosity of our donors allows us to provide this safety net.

We wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make our Raise the Roof virtual event a success. We are so passionate about being the safety net our community needs in times of crisis. The donations we received totaled $156,000 and will help us continue to provide resources to our clients.

Starting at sunrise on August 17th, we're going to Raise the Roof to Ease Poverty. KBUL on-air personality and Catholic Charities supporter, JJ Christy will perch atop Dolan Toyota, braving the heat, until the community meets his fundraising goal of $150,000! He'll be joined on the rooftop by KOLO 8 News Now Meteorologist Jeff Thompson who will broadcast the weather live. That evening, we'll broadcast our own event via Facebook Live, hosted by Wendy Damonte, from 6:30-7:30 pm highlighting client success stories and our poverty assistance services.

Western Nevada Supply continues to be a tremendous supporter of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. For this year's virtual gala they will be matching up to $10,000 in donations to help make donors gifts have an even greater impact.

Dolan Auto Group has been a long time supporter of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. As our organization has adapted our fundraising efforts to a virtual event, Dolan Auto Group was quick to offer their Kietzke Lane location to host KBUL DJ JJ Christy who will broadcasting from the Dolan Toyota building starting at sunrise on August 17th to raise funds for our poverty assistance programs. Be sure to drive by the Dolan dealership and honk and wave!

We are reacting quickly to the needs of our community as we cope with the COVID-19 crisis. We are always privileged to serve the most vulnerable populations in northern Nevada—especially the homeless and working poor through our St. Vincent’s Dining Room, Food Pantry and our Emergency Services through our Resource Hub. But now we are expecting the impact of the virus to expand those we serve. In the coming days and weeks many individuals and families who have never before utilized our services will find that they are in need of the safety net we provide.
