To ease the pain of poverty, there are a thousand things we could do. These critical programs and events represent the things we must do.
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada serves thousands of individuals each month. We focus our efforts in four key areas: Food services, case management services, maternity and family services, and residential services. We also operate two thrift stores to underwrite our programs and provide entry-level employment opportunities.
Programs at a Glance
Free assistance and counseling to birth parents who are considering adoption, along with services for prospective adoptive parents who wish to grow their families through adoption. Our Adoption Services program is one of only two licensed adoptive agencies located in northern Nevada.
Our Resource Hub provides one-on-one case management for people in need. Free services include: clothing, bus passes (with a verified appointment), diapers, personal care items, work permits, and referrals to other services free of charge.
The St. Vincent’s Food Pantry is the largest food pantry in Nevada, serving more than 12,000 people each month. We offer non-perishable, canned and packaged food products to individuals and families in need at no cost.
The St. Vincent’s Dining Room is Reno’s oldest "soup kitchen" welcoming all who are hungry in our community. The dining room serves a free hot cafeteria-style lunch, Monday through Saturday, to over 500 people each day.
Our senior nutrition program is a public-private partnership with Washoe County which provides “Meals on Wheels” to homebound seniors and congregate lunch service at sites throughout Washoe County.
Our immigration assistance program helps clients find and fund a legal pathway to citizenship. We assist people with obtaining legal permanent residency, temporary protective status, employment authorization, U non-immigrant status, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Crossroads Sober Living
A partnership with Washoe County Human Services Agency that provides housing and supportive living arrangements for men and women battling addiction and transitioning out of homelessness. Drug and alcohol counseling is offered to all residents.
