The St. Vincent's Food Pantry continued its annual tradition of providing holiday meals to families in need across northern Nevada by distributing food to more than 7,000 families. Starting in November, our outreach team delivered bags filled with nutritious food throughout Washoe County and to rural areas of Nevada such as, Winnemucca, Elko, Gerlach and Hawthorne.

In December, the annual Feeding Families Food Giveaway was held outside the St. Vincent's Food Pantry. Families were able to pick up a bag of food, along with their choice of a ham or turkey. This year, we were also able to distribute winter coats and Skecher shoes to families in need. In addition to the food distribution, our Kids to Seniors Korner program provided free immunizations. Catholic Charities employees also helped sign people up for SNAP benefits, and several local service agencies (Veterans Affairs, Nevada Legal Services and the Health Care Guidance Program) attended the event to offer their services. Nearly 2,000 families showed up for the event.

In all, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada was able to provide holiday meals for 7,100 families at 34 different locations in 8 counties. All of the food that was distributed was in addition to the monthly supplemental food boxes given out to clients through the St. Vincent's Food Pantry.
