Thank you to everyone who donated to our Back to School Drive! We collected 120 lunch boxes and water bottles, which were delivered to several Washoe County schools during the first week of August. We also placed a snack pack containing up to 3 meals worth of nutritious food with each lunch box.

A recent study by Washoe County showed that there are more than 26,000 children locally that experience hunger on some level and are undernourished. We hope that by giving these children a new lunch box and healthy food, some of the financial burden will be taken off the parents and the children will have a boost in their confidence as they start the new school year. Despite our efforts, there are still lots of children experiencing food insecurity in our community. This includes many of the families we serve through the St. Vincent’s Food Pantry. If you were unable to help with our Back to School Drive, another way you can help these children is by donating non-perishable food items to the pantry.
