St. Vincent's Resource Network

Our St. Vincent's Resource Network, formerly known as the Emergency Assistance Program, is tasked with serving those who wonder how they will be able to meet their most basic needs. We embrace each family and individual with a plan to achieve an increased level of self-sufficiency, giving back some of the choices they have lost along the way.

As we realize that while we provide a very wide array of services to those in need, we also rely on support and assistance from many other local not-for-profit agencies in our community. As a Catholic Charities agency, our goal is not to duplicate local services, but rather to target our resources on those “gaps” in services. With this said, our Resource Network staff consult with individuals and families, determine their overall needs and situations, connect people to other services in the community, and then strive to provide those basic needs that do not exist elsewhere. In 2014, our St. Vincent's Resource Network served nearly 12,000 people in total.

In 2015, we provided the following types of services:

  • Referrals to other helping agencies (clothing, medical care, welfare assistance, etc.) for 5,032 individuals.
  • Transportation help (primarily bus passes) for 589 individuals.
  • Job acquisition support (work permits, ID cards, etc.) for 2,330 individuals.
  • Hygiene items and diapers for 4,135 families.
  • Helped 508 families avoid eviction, having their power shut off, or other devastating financial situations.
  • We provided 352 “Starter Packs” to families moving into their own place and in need of kitchen items.
