The Thriving Family Support Center is designed to complement the emergency services we offer through our Resource Hub, which focus on solutions to acute needs, including access to food, shelter, clothing, and benefit enrollment services. When COVID-19 ravaged our community, Catholic Charities rapidly expanded is services in the Reno/Sparks community and across our rural and frontier counties taking on several new programs, including the WIC home-delivered grocery program and food pantry deliveries to immune-compromised seniors and disabled individuals. The need for continued expanded services quickly became evident as we discovered more and more “service deserts” across northern Nevada. This was the genesis behind the creation of our Thriving Family Support Center.
Activities performed by our community health workers are provided through the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health by grant number 1 NH75OT000092-01-00 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
